Engagement photos in Cleveland Ohio

If you’re looking for reasons to take engagement photos, I get it. Adding engagement photos as another thing to your wedding to-do list? No thanks! Especially if it’s something you have to drag your fiancé to for an hour with an engagement photographer. Most guys aren’t dying to pose in front of a camera for an hour. I completely understand! All that said, I do think there are so many great benefits to having an engagement session. So if you’re one the fence about taking engagement photos, I hope this helps you gain some clarity on what some of the benefits of getting engagement photos taken are!

1. You’ll be more comfortable in front of the camera on your wedding day:

The truth is, most of us aren’t going to feel 100% ourselves in front of the camera, especially if you haven’t had photos taken before – so why not get that initial awkwardness and discomfort out of the way before the wedding day? The last thing you want on your wedding day is another thing to feel nervous about. Don’t let being in front of the camera be one of them; if you have engagement photos taken first will really ease that feeling.

2. Engagement photos mean you’ll have photos for your save-the-date announcements/wedding details:

It’s nice to have some photos of the two of you for any wedding signage, your guest book table, and of course – your save the dates! You really do end up using these photos in multiple places and trust me, you’ll be glad you had an entire session of images to choose your favorites!

3. You’ll have a chance to get to know your photographer:

A lot of people actually overlook this and don’t think much of it, but honestly? This right here is so important to your actual day. You will spend more time with your photographer on your wedding than your spouse. I know, it sounds crazy right? But think about it: your photographer will be capturing your getting ready photos with your bridal party and all of the moments right up till the moment you see your groom, and all of the moments after that. That is a lot of time! If you have an engagement session, you’ll already be spending some time with this person. So on the actual day, you’ll feel a lot more comfortable with them. Check out my blog post on why you need to connect with your wedding photographer here.

4. Engagement photos help you celebrate your engagement season:

You may have dated for some time and you’ll be married for the rest of your lives, but that engagement season is only a short period of time that you’ll only get to have once in your life. So why not mark that special time in your lives with some photos? Having engagement pictures with an engagement photographer taken is a great way to mark that special season in your life.

5. Engagement photos help you see what you look like in professional photos:

If you’ve never had photos professionally taken, it’s a good idea to have an idea of what you look like in them before your wedding day. So many people stress about how they’ll look in their photos. If you have some pictures taken before your wedding day, this will help you feel more confident on the day (because you already know you’re going to look great in those photos 🙂 )

I hope this helps you make the decision of whether or not you should have an engagement session done with an engagement photographer, but there are plenty of good reasons to take engagement photos! I know it can seem overwhelming to add another ‘to-do’ to your list, but I promise, this is one you really won’t regret. Good luck and happy planning!
