Cleveland Brand Photography for Photographers

One of my favorite things about having a Cleveland brand photography business is that I get to meet so many unique business owners. This session with Emily Jones and her team at Photography by Emily Jones was SO much fun. As photographers, a lot of times we have tons of images of our work, but not a ton of images of ourselves. And honestly, some of us prefer being behind the camera instead of in front of it. I totally understand that! You should see me in front of a camera. Without direction, I have no idea what to do, and when I do, it doesn’t feel natural…it actually feels pretty awkward.

But the reality is that us photographers really need images that showcase who we are, not just what we do. If you’re a wedding photographer, you know how much time we spend with our brides – it’s literally the entire day. And the truth is, we usually spend more time with our brides than they do with the groom. So it’s really important to build that connection. I feel like we owe it to our potential brides to allow them to get to know us, not just our work, before they book. They deserve to book a photographer they feel like they know, like, and trust. And one of the best ways to do that is through brand photos – not just cute headshots, but photos that actually showcase who we are, and us in our element.

Emily is one of the sweetest photographers I have ever met. She specializes in newborn and engagement sessions, and she is an actual ray of sunshine – if you’ve met her, you know what I’m talking about!

When Emily and I first talked, she mentioned that her fiancé and her mom are a very important part of her business. So of course, we made sure to incorporate them into her photos!

One of the things that was really important for Emily was getting a lot of variety. So we achieved that through multiple outfits! As photographers, since we don’t get in front of the camera a whole lot, I feel like it’s super important that when we do, we go ahead and get a lot of variety. That way, it doesn’t look like all of our brand photos were taken the same day! That’s always one of my goals in branding sessions.

Lastly, we went to Edgewater Park for a few more shots to add some variety. I love this spot for engagement sessions, but I actually loved it for these branding photos too!
