A Stunning Basil Place Wedding Ohio for High School Sweethearts McKenna and Ryan

 I absolutely love photographing weddings at Basil Place in Chardon, OH. We have some truly incredible venues here in Ohio, and this is one of the absolute best! It was the perfect backdrop for McKenna and Ryan’s September wedding.These two high school sweethearts tied the knot surrounded by their closest family and friends, with a romantic color palette of soft pinks and greens. Every moment of their day at Basil Place was filled with joy, elegance, and genuine love.

The morning began in Basil Place’s beautiful bridal suite, the Carriage House. McKenna and her bridesmaids were tucked away getting ready while I captured some sweet moments, bridal details, and other pieces of the story. I loved how the pink and green details that McKenna carefully chose for her day. The Carriage House at Basil Place is full of gorgeous natural light that allowed for some beautiful bridal portraits right before the first look. 

McKenna and Ryan’s first look was one of my favorite moments of the day. We chose a quiet garden corner at Basil Place, framed by greenery. Ryan’s face lit up when he turned around, and the emotion between them was so raw and real. After years of growing up together, this was the moment they had been waiting for.

The outdoor ceremony at Basil Place was nothing short of breathtaking. Guests were seated on the outdoor patio overlooking the pond as the couple exchanged vows under an arch adorned with lush pink and green florals. The September light filtered beautifully, making the whole scene glow. You could feel the love not just between the couple, but from every single person present.

Bridal Party Photos

The bridal party brought so much energy and joy to the day. The bridesmaids in shades of green and the groomsmen in sleek suits with greenery accents looked incredible against Basil Place’s beautiful backdrop of trees and greenery. Their laughter and excitement made the portraits full of life, just the way bridal party photos should feel!

Reception

The reception space at Basil Place was everything Mckenna and Ryan imagined. Tables decorated with greenery, blush florals, and candlelight made everything feel romantic and inviting. Guests shared heartfelt toasts, enjoyed dinner, and filled the dance floor late into the evening. It was the perfect ending to a day that truly reflected who they are: joyful, genuine, and deeply in love.

During the reception, we popped outside for a few sunset portraits – I always encourage couples if they would like to take sunset portraits to absolutely do so. Not only is it a chance for us to capture some gorgeous portraits, but it’s a chance for the couple to just have some quiet time together before the party starts. Plus, if you’re getting married at Basil Place, the sunset over the trees is absolutely incredible!
